Camp Cosby

I got the opportunity, thanks to an amazing husband willing to stay-at-home and be Mr. Mom, to go to Camp Cosby with Corynne's 6th grade class.   What an adventure!!!!

We started out the trip with a visit to DeSoto Caverns right outside Childersburg, Alabama.  It was one of those places JM and I have been meaning to take the kids, but the timing has never worked out.  We learned a lot about the history of the caves and the kids enjoyed the tour.  

When we arrived at Camp Cosby, the real fun began!! We got our cabin set up.  We have a great group of girls and moms in our cabin!

Our first activity was canoeing.

A favorite time every night was at the Campfire.  We enjoyed music and devotions here every night.  These kids have a heart for God and serving others.

Our favorite time on Thursday was climbing the Tower.  It was very high and all the kids did great!

 Made it to the top ledge!  Now time to ride the rope down!!!

 On Friday morning, we participated in the Underground Railroad.  We were treated as slaves trying to make our escape through the woods from farm to farm.  We were caught and pinned by a landowner and feed by some landowners.  We had to stay down with our faces in the dark many times.  It was scary at times, but you really felt the suffering and fever the slaves went through to get to freedom.

 Our last session was building a place to stay if we were lost in the woods.  The girls built a great shelter!!!!
