Baby steps!

Colleen is growing up! Her parents finally figured out that she likes to sit up while taking baths. Only problem is that she cannot sit on her own?!?!
Colleen will only sleep on her stomach. If you put her down on her back or side, she is awake within 10 minutes. Only problem is that this is a major problem with EVERYONE who sees her like this!
Again, Colleen really prefers to sit up!!!

At the Beach

The beach was beautiful as always. There were tar balls on the shore and a "lake" of oil glazed water between the condos and the gulf, but it was still beautiful! The kids had fun playing in the sand and running/playing were the waves came up on shore. At this point in the Gulf Crisis, there were red flags and warnings to not go into the water.
We did take our annual pictures at the beach! The kids are learning to just smile and get it over with and then they can do what they want to do....PLAY!!!!

Gulf Shores Tennis Tournament

With the Crisis in the Gulf, we were looking for an extra reason to go to the beach this year. We wanted to go "put our toes in the water", but with such uncertainty with the oil we wanted to have something to keep us busy! We found this tennis tournament, and JM decided it would be a perfect 1st tournament for the girls.

Lauren registered for the Quick-Start 8 &U division. It did not make (and neither did the Girls 10 &U), so Lauren and Corynne ended up playing in the 12&U division. Lauren had a great 1st match/tourney. (She only played 1 match because we forfeited her first round match. She never knew, and there was no reason to submit her to that!) She played a sweet girl who loved little kids and babysitting. The girl guided Lauren through the entire match. She never tried to overpower or totally cream Lauren. She served gentle to Lauren so that Lauren had a chance to hit the ball.
Corynne played 2 matches in the Girls 12 &U division. She won a few points, and she had fun.
Lauren and Corynne had fun playing around and getting to participate at the tennis tournament!
Tyler played a great tournament! He WON his division!!!!

"Blue" pictures

Two years ago, I took some pictures on the back porch of all the kids dressed in brown. They turned out so good that I decided to try again this year. Everyone had blue this time and they turned out great (for 5 kids)!!!!

EHS Reunion Weekend

JM and I decided to go to TX this weekend for our class reunions. Our HS only has reunions every 5 years (2000, 2005, 2010) for ALL classes. This was JM's 19th and my 18th. We had a great time visiting with our old friends from EHS!
A few of my classmates...
A few of JM's classmates...
Obviously, Colleen went with us to TX. My parents were excited to see her again.
She also got the opportunity to meet my brother Michael and his wife Jacqline.
Colleen also met her Mimi, GreatGran and Memom for the 1st time.
We had a wonderful, relaxing weekend with just 1 kid! I think Colleen enjoyed the 1-on-1 time with her parents also!

Tyler got braces today!

He has been so excited for months that he was getting braces this summer. His excitement ended within a couple of hours of getting the braces on! His mouth was sore. He was hungry. His type A personality emerged. "I have to brush my teeth 3 times a day. I only brush 3 times a week." He was UNBEARABLE!!!

Dad's busy Saturday!

The girls went to there first swim meet this morning. They were so excited to compete after practicing so hard the last 2 weeks. They each swam a couple of individual events and a team relay event.
We are NEW to this swim team stuff, so here is how the morning goes. First, the swim coach writes your races and lane assignments on your arm!
Then you take your warm up laps in the pool. Then you wait for your turn to race!
The girls did a great job. These are Corynne's ribbons for today.
These are Lauren's ribbons.
Dad took everyone out to eat pizza and then it was home for a nap!

THEN it was BISCUIT TIME!!! The Montgomery Biscuits Baseball team that is! Although, I am not sure if the girls know that there is a baseball game going on while they....
PLAY
and PLAY some more
and roll down the hill
Oh, yeah. They do stop for a minute to sing. Watch out Obama, even 3 years olds know which way to hold their hand during the pledge!
THANK YOU DAD FOR A GREAT DAY!

Dothan Tennis Tournament

While JM kept the girls in Montgomery this weekend, I took Tyler to a tennis tourney in Dothan.
They held a fastest served competition during the lunch break on Saturday. Tyler won 1st place for Boys 12s.
For the first time in his tennis career, he was seeded 1st in a tournament. BUT he lost 2 fairly close matches and we returned to Montgomery late Saturday night.
