YMCA basketball

Because I just feel the need to complicate my life, I agreed to let the girls play Ybasketball!  Why not? We have a few extra hours every week.  I think?!?!
Lauren plays for the Monarch team.  She has fun playing with one of her school friends who is on the team.  She looks forward to every practice!

Lauren had a great season with her team.  They never won a game, but they tried really hard and were good sports!
Corynne played for the Southeast FLASH team.  They had an amazing coach, LJ, who played a few years for the WNBA Sparks.  This team was SOOO much fun to watch!  Corynne learned her place on the team and what her job was for the team.

The FLASH completed the season tonight UNDEFEATED!  They will play in the Y championship tournament next week for the Championship Title!!!

Fire! Fire!

Lyndsey's preschool class visited Fire Station #6 today.  We watched a Sparky video, saw the fireman kitchen and sleeping quarters, saw a fireman in his "big suit" and climbed on the big fire truck.

 Isn't she just beautiful!
Our fireman tour leader even climbed to the top of the ladder truck!  Scary up there!!!
 Miss Milla & Miss Kim's Pre-K 4 class.
We learned don't play with matches, stop-drop-and-roll, have an escape plan, and don't be scared of firemen because they are our friends!!!

Other happenings

It comes around once a year...PTO night at Eastwood Christian School!  Each grade presents a few songs that basically explain what they have been learning this year.  Sixth grade started the program with a History Sound Off.  Corynne was a scientist and this was her sound off, "Black leaders like Booker T. Washington and George Washington Carver emerged from the south after black men were given the right to vote."
Lauren's 3rd grade class sang the Names of God and quoted Isaiah 9:6-7.
On Monday, January 23rd, the 6th grade class helped the Kindergarten during Pioneer Day.  Corynne was very excited to be a team leader.  She led her group of K students from activity to activity each led by 6th grade students.  Thankful to Mrs. Fran from church who loaned us an awesome pioneer costume!!!!
