A Busy Weekend

This weekend was another busy one in our house! On Friday night, JM got a babysitter so we could go out on a date. We have not had a date night in a LONG time. We went out to eat at The Farmhouse. We have been wanting to try this "new" place for quite a while, and just as everyone had told us IT WAS DELICIOUS!!! Next we went to the movies. We saw The Book of Eli. It had enough "shootem up" to maintain JM attention, and it had enough of a plot to keep me awake. Although, I did not really understand the movie until the end. It was one of those where you walk out saying, "oh, now I understand why."

Early Saturday morning, JM and the girls left for Mobile. JM took this weekend off to take Corynne to her dance competition down there. Since I am 36 weeks, I am technically not suppose to leave town. It was a good experience for JM!!!! I think he saw enough dance to last him quite a while! Corynne's team did well at their first competition. They did a ballet and a jazz number and received Gold ratings for both.
Corynne stayed at the competition to see one of her friends dance her first solo at 9:30 pm. JM took the other girls back to the hotel for the night.
On Sunday morning, everyone was up early! JM took the girls to the Gulf Coast Explorium. Guess what... one of the exhibits was on dinosaurs. The girls had the perfect dance for that!!!!
JM said that the Explorium had the best "doctor" stuff for kids. They performed surgeries via computers and saw how the heart works! Cool stuff!

While Dad and the girls were away, Mom and Tyler had to play!
Tyler played in the Blue-Grey Tournament here in Montgomery this weekend. Mom was treated to a Saturday morning at the Spa with Dad's PA and Nurse PA. We had pedis and went to lunch. It was a wonderful, relaxing morning! I felt a little guilty as a dropped Tyler off Saturday morning for his first match. I saw him warm up then I had to get downtown for my "girl time". When we finished our pedis, I checked my phone only to see that Tyler had lost his first match. One of his coaches took him to lunch and returned him to the courts to play his 2nd match. OK. I will get there by mid match...no problem. By the end of lunch, I got a text from JM that Tyler had called him. Tyler had "sprained" his ankle in the 3rd game of the 1st set. He tried to finish the set, but he was in so much pain that he had to forfeit. NOW, I felt extremely guilty. Terrible, horrible, no good MOM! I quickly wrapped up my morning with the girls and rushed over to the tournament. Tyler was patiently waiting on me to take him home. He was fine, but his ankle/foot was a little swollen. Nothing that ice did not cure overnight.

On Sunday, Tyler and I slept in VERY late. Then we ate a late breakfast at Cracker Barrel and went to see Avatar. Tyler loved it. I thought it was a LONG, strange movie. We both agreed the graphics were good. Now, time for another restful afternoon!

Learning to sew

Corynne has been taking sewing classes for a few months now. She has made pj bottoms, a bag, and a couple of pillowcases. Yesterday at class, she finished her "gathered" layered skirt. She did a great job. She was so excited to wear it to church today. Luckily the weather cooperated, and it was warm!

Rollin'

Corynne's friends brought their rollerblades to the party of Friday-Saturday. The kids had so much fun that they wanted their own blades/skates. So this afternoon I took them to Academy to go shopping with their $ from Valentine's Day/Birthday (for Corynne)/leftover Christmas (for Tyler).
Tyler and Corynne got Rollerblades!
Lauren got Rollerskates! She is scared of the rollerblades!
Lyndsey just wanted a Dora scooter! Surprise!?!
So FYI to Granddad, Noni and Grammy, this is where the Valentine $ was spent!
FYI to Mimi, this is where Corynne's Bday $ was spent!
They have had a blast all weekend on their new skates!

Corynne's Birthday Party

We had Corynne's birthday party this evening! She invited her 2 best friends for a spa party. Corynne, Cami, and Mary Phyfer have been friends since Kindergarten (when we moved to AL). They are sweet, special little girls who are more like family to us!
Lauren helped me give the girls their manicures and pedicures. Then Lauren got to participate in the facial.
It was so much fun. The girls included their American Girls in every thing we did. It was actually cute to see them dress the AG dolls for everything from spa dates to roller blading. If I would have planned an AG themed party, I am quite sure it would have been frowned upon! It was so sweet to see it just happen!!!
Lyndsey got home from Aunt Kelly's house just in time for dinner and cake. BIG THANKS to Aunt Kelly and the boys for taking Lyndsey for the afternoon!!!!! It made the afternoon so much easier!

Playing Hooky in Memphis

John Mark and Tyler went to Memphis today to a Pro Tennis Tourney. Tyler wanted to go to the US Open in NY, so this was our compromise!!
JM said it was actually a very nice tournament. They ended up with very up-close and personal box seats. They both had a great time, and Mom was a little jealous when she saw pics because she would have loved to have been there and watched. Maybe next year!!!!
Tyler called in "sick" to school today which actually turned out to be the truth. Be careful what you ask for!!! Tyler started complaining about a stomach ache as they began their 5 hour drive to Memphis. By noon, the vomiting and diarrhea set in. Tyler was a real trooper through all the trips to the bathroom! He (and JM) were determined to stay to see Roddick and Sharapova play late tonight. And they did.
Tyler got quite a few autographs. Not Sharrapova :( She turned and left with only the two boys left in line! What was that about!?!?!

Side Note ----Tyler is a big fan of Man vs. Food. On the way to Memphis, he looked up where Man vs. Food had gone in Memphis. One of the places was Gus's, so they decided to go there for lunch. Well, the wait at 11:30 was 2 hours so they decided to take a pic and head on to the tourney!

Great day away! They got home at 4:30 on Friday morning.

Makeup Valentine Party

Today Lauren's class had their Valentine Party. School was canceled on Friday when they where going to have their party. The kids were so disappointed that the teachers let them reschedule their party for today.
Look at that cute Valentine box Mom & Lauren made. It had pig-tails on the side :)

At the Lake

So what did JM and the kids do at the lake...
lots of movies...
lots of fishing...
yes, that is my little girl playing with worms. Yuck! The girls love to bait the worms, touch and play with them. Tyler will not touch them. To top it off, Tyler will not touch the fish that they catch either. Not sure if he is a true outdoorsman yet???
It was boys with the fancy fishing gear vs. the girls with the $9 fishing rod and worms. The score was 2-0 with the girls bringing home the victory! Tyler was so happy for the girls ...???
lots of fun...
The girls even planned a show for the boys for the evening!
