At the beach

It feels like it has been FOREVER since we put our toes in the sand.  We missed our beach vacation last year because of the oil spill.   We actually we went, but the shores were too oily to swim.

This year we went to Destin.  This was our first family vacation to San Destin, Florida.  JM had a meeting scheduled there which is always a good reason to choose a resort!  Our first order of business upon arriving on Monday was family pictures, because Tyler was leaving Tuesday for youth camp in Panama City.  Colleen was not sure about the sand AT ALL until we let her put her shoes back on.  Then she was ready to explore!
Lauren...
Corynne...

Then we played at the Wharf  for the rest of the evening!
Tuesday morning we got up to take Tyler to Panama City to meet our church youth group at Souled Out later that afternoon..  I had hear about Shell Island down there, and we decided to make a family day of it.
Colleen had fun playing in the sand while the big people where snorkeling for shells!
After we dropped Tyler off, we went back to take the Dolphin tour and "swim" with the dolphins.
SOOOOO fun!

How awesome is it to have dolphins right beside you!
Daddy, Corynne and Lyndsey had a BLAST!  Lauren was too scared to get in the water.

they found a sea urchin... yuck!

And many sand dollars and shells

The rest of the week was spent at San Destin.  The kids enjoyed all kinds of activities from swimming, biking, mini golf, and make your own snowcones!

Daddy's chocolate banana is good!

Locks of Love

Corynne has been growing out her hair for years.  A couple of her friends have donated to Locks of Love in the past, and Corynne has been waiting until she had enough that she did not have to cut it "too short"!  She was so excited!

Over 10 inches of LOVE!
Her new look.  Beautiful inside and out!

Memorial Day @ the Lake

The kids decided to take a break in the pool this afternoon!
Lyndsey taught herself how to dive (with a little coaching from the Corynne & Lauren).  Tyler, you are going to have to learn how now that your 4 year old sister can!!!

On Monday, we headed out to the lake for a day on the water.  I met a sweet lady in BSF this year who also has a house on Lake Jordan.  She has 4 kids-2 older boys that are a little older than Tyler and twin girls that are Lauren's age.  We had made plans with them for the day.  It was so much fun for the kids to have other kids to play with on the water.

Tyler with the Adams boys...

Colleen keeping an eye on the action!

The Adams had a knee board.  We have never done that before, but Corynne got up like a pro.
Lyndsey and Lauren tried, but they did not make it up completely.

Girls just want to have fun!
Oh, Tyler!

EOY Programs & Such

2nd grade is fun!  Today Mrs. Peevy came and taught us fractions & directions while making Apple Pies!

Mrs. Ford gave Lauren the award for Responsibility.  So then every one of us shall give account of himself to God.   Romans 14:12
Lauren & Corynne received Gold medals for completing their Olympic Reading requirements.

Lyndsey had an awesome year at Trinity Preschool.  She learned all her letters and sounds.  She started out the year only being able to write the letter "L".  Now she can write any letter you call out!!  She enjoyed crafts, recess and singing with her friends at school.  Her teachers bragged on her all the time.  She was a role model student who continually went out of her way to help others.
And on the last day of school, Mom forgot to pick up this awesome student.  It was a sad day :(  Next time I think I have got everything done and I have time to rest, I will count the kids first!!!!
The TPS Varsity Tennis team qualified for the State Tournament!  They were in Decater when the horrible tornadoes ripped through Alabama.  JM & I were terrified that he was not in our nest (and we were not with him) during the storms.  The team spent a lot of time in the halls of the hotel on their knees waiting out the tornadoes that swirled around the area.  They did not have electricity and everyones cell phones were dead by the next day.  Little to no contact over two days was difficult.  They all made it back with stories to tell!!!

Piano Recitals

Lauren & Corynne had their piano recital with Mrs. Gloria Bryant on May 15th at Art's Music Shop.  The both received awards for competing in the National Piano Auditions.

Tyler had to switch piano teachers due to scheduling conflicts during tennis season.  He finished out the year with Mrs. Christy Kreitz.  Tyler was shocked when he showed up for his recital at the church was packed.  He had never played in front of such a large crowd!
